NetShade

Even inflated listings show prices far above darknet scammer rates

The dark web remains one of the most misunderstood corners of the internet. NetShade exists to cut through the myths and provide clear, practical guidance for anyone who needs to understand or access these hidden networks safely.

Why We Built This

Most resources about the dark web fall into two camps: sensationalist fear-mongering or overly technical documentation that assumes you already know what you're doing. We wanted something different. A straightforward resource that explains how Tor works, what you'll actually find beyond the clearnet, and how to protect yourself without requiring a computer science degree. Whether you need secure communication channels, want to understand privacy tools, or simply feel curious about what exists in these spaces, we provide the map without the melodrama.

Who's Behind the Keyboard

I'm Oliver Gray, a cybersecurity consultant based in Bristol. I've spent years working with encryption, network security, and privacy technologies. This project started as personal notes and research that kept expanding. No fancy awards or media appearances to list here. Just someone who finds this technology fascinating and believes accurate information should be accessible. I write everything you see on this site, drawing from technical documentation, security research, and hands-on testing of tools and services.

How We Work

Every guide starts with current documentation from the Tor Project, security advisories, and community forums where people discuss real experiences. We test tools in controlled environments before recommending them. When we cover a hidden service or marketplace, we verify it's active and note any known security concerns. Updates happen whenever major changes occur in the Tor network, browser versions, or threat landscape. We don't rush to publish. If something needs more research, it waits.

What We Don't Do

We don't provide links to illegal marketplaces or services. We don't encourage breaking laws. We don't collect your data or run ads. This is a hobby project, not a business. We also don't pretend to have tested every single tool or visited every corner of the dark web. When we don't know something, we say so.
